Mamelodi Sundowns owner Patrice Motsepe is primed to take over the role as CAF president on Friday unopposed. It’s a remarkable rise to power considering Motsepe has never held a position at CAF or even SAFA, but with so much controversy surrounding CAF recently, a change in the governing body was and is clearly needed. African football fans are well aware of the corruption which has existed in the continent competitions at both a club and national level. Furthermore, concerns have been raised about the lack of investment in women’s football and youth development.
