PSL Supporters ‘Depressed’ Watching Football From Home

PSL supporters call on the league to allow for fans to attend matches next season! Here it all by clicking on the podcast player below.

Premier Soccer League supporters are experiencing the bittersweet feeling of being able to watch football, but under new and often frustrating conditions. Under level one regulations, they ae able to go to crowded malls and packed taxi ranks but they can’t attend football matches in stadiums. The fan bases have been understanding and very supportive of the PSL’s decisions, as football has at least returned to screens instead of being abandoned, but they remain homesick for the matchday experience. For many fans, watching their favourite team play matches from their living room feels strange, and even supporters who wouldn’t normally attend matches, can tell that something is missing in stadiums.

In the latest episode of the SL Podcast’s ‘Fan Reaction Show’, supporters express their frustrations and state quite plainly that they’d like to be allowed back in the stadiums. They maintain a good deal of respect for the league, but have obvious dissatisfaction with the fact that they’re not sure when they will be allowed to return, a decision which hasn’t been made as clear in South Africa, as it has in other countries. One fan described watching football from home as “more depressing than losing the league.”
