Listen to Teko Modise explain why he believes players with big personalities will not be able to play in the PSL by clicking on the podcast player below!
At 39-years-old, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the current leading goal scorer in Serie A. The Swedish striker, who scored 113 goals for Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain FC in his time there, looks like he has no plans of slowing down.
Ibrahimovic is well known for his larger-than-life personality, making full use of social media to sing his own praises, often making statements like ‘I can’t help but laugh at how perfect I am,’ and ‘I won’t be the King of Manchester, I will be the God of Manchester.’
On the Carwash, Teko Modise reflects on how players with personalities like Ibrahimovic and Italian striker Mario Balotelli would not get played under a PSL Coach.
The Orlando Pirates legend states, ‘Zlatan is arrogant, but he does the business. Most of the coaches in South Africa can’t handle players with personalities. I [saw] it happening with me and around me. Players are forced to retire not because of their qualities but because the coaches feel intimidated.’
Also on the show, Teko and co-host Sean Roberts discuss Gavin Hunt’s predicament at Kaizer Chiefs and ask the question ‘Is their transfer ban a blessing in disguise?’
